Source: Italy considers return of pet food producers to Russia
MOSCOW, Jun 29 (PRIME) -- Italy’s ambassador to Moscow Giorio Starace has asked Sergei Dankvert, head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight, to consider a return of Italian pet food producers, a source familiar with the matter told PRIME on Thursday.
“Italy is concerned with the impossibility of pet food sales to the Russian market. Italian ambassador Giorgio Starace has asked Sergei Dankvert, head of the veterinary oversight service, to discuss this possibility during a personal meeting. The negotiations were held today,” the source said.
Italian producers of premium-quality pet food are ready to confirm readiness to comply with the Russian legislation by passing inspections, the source said.
Starace and Dankvert also discussed Italy’s plans to continue wine sales to Russia and to maintain its positions on the Russian market, the source added.
